The start of name calling.

GE2015: Replace me in Marine Parade? Let them try: Goh Chok Tong on Workers’ Party
By Nurul Azliah Aripin | Yahoo Newsroom 26 AUG 2015

“They (Workers’ Party) are stronger than the NSP (National Solidarity Party), there’s no doubt about that. There’s a certain arrogance in them… Will that same arrogance be able to replace me in Marine Parade? Let them try,” said Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, during a Wednesday press conference to unveil PAP's Marine Parade GRC candidates.

He was responding to questions about facing up to opposition parties in the coming general election. Earlier, it was announced that besides Goh, the Marine Parade GRC candidates are Social and Family Development Minister Tan Chuan-Jin, Associate Professor Fatimah Lateef, NTUC Fairprice CEO Seah Kian Peng and new member lawyer Edwin Tong, a former MP from Moulmein-Kallang GRC.

The team will most likely contest against both the Workers’ Party and the National Solidarity Party in the coming elections.

Goh, who has been a Member of Parliament in Marine Parade for 40 years, also highlighted the Aljunied-Hougang-Punggol East Town Council (AHPETC) saga, involving the Workers’ Party.
“I will just tell the Marine Parade residents, look at the way they (Workers’ Party) run their
town council’s finances. Look at the way we run our town council’s finances. You decide,” said Goh.

The Workers’ Party has been embroiled in an ongoing saga over the accounts of the town council it oversees.

Among the lapses found in its accounts include lack of governance over transactions with related parties, and poor monitoring of Service and Conservancy Charges (S&CC).
Opposition parties are like ‘nomads’

Goh also commented on opposition parties in Singapore, saying that they “come and go” like “nomads”.

“Nomads do not have interest in the people’s welfare, they are looking for plunder. In Marine Parade’s case, since the 1990s, there have been three or four parties that have come and gone. Now a new tribe is coming, do they really have interest in Marine Parade’s people’s welfare?”

In the last general election, PAP won by 56.7 per cent against the NSP. This year, there are about 140,000 electors within Marine Parade GRC, according to Electoral Boundaries Review Report.

Polling day has been set for 11 September.

Ah ha… I was just waiting to see who will be the first from the PAP be start off the name calling and degrade GE2015 to be a ungentlemanly fight.

So we got start from the ESM (EGM/EMM/SME?) Goh himself.

I always think no matter what political party you are from, your primary goals is to serve the people of Singapore no matter are you being rewarded for it or not. You have to put the people first before your party or even your own personal agenda.

Well if you are paid a handsome salaries then good for you but that should never never be your reason to get into politics. Again most people from PAP are already drawing high salaries so why they join PAP then?

For Power? Connection?

Or maybe they really care about the people of Singapore?

This is the question all voters should ask themselves. Does my MP put himself and his parties before me?

So no matter what, actions speaks louder than words.
Be sincere, do you job, don’t speaks ill of other and the people will see that you are worth to represent them in parliament.

Do not have to resolve to threats, law suits, and names callings. The will really shows us how low class you are.

Goh here started calling WP arrogant? Huh? Just because they dare to challenge almighty you in Marine Parade you call them arrogant? This shows PAP is even more arrogant, whats wrong in contesting against you?

We know PAP will bring up the town council issue. But don’t forget many PAP run town councils have loss lots of money during the financial crises. They also are no angels.

If you keep harping on this people will get sick of it. However I can bet he will not be the last guy to bring it up.

It’s also funny he called the opposition Nomads saying they are here to suck you dry and move on. Hey I guess PAP had been sucking Singaporean dry for the past 50 years and only give goodies during GE years.

Come on Goh, Singaporean are not stupid these days and thanks God PAP has not control over all the media now. We are read and hear from other parties ourselves before passing our opinion. We don’t have to rely on the mainstream media or you for information these days.

What you says is only you own opinion. Don’t shoot yourself in your foot.

Silent is golden.
